About Me

My name is Michael Harris and I am an undergraudate geography student at the University of New Hampshire. In my spare time I make various maps using Dave's Redistricting Atlas 2020 - currently, I am working on a project that maps each state if congressional districts had around 350,000 people (approximately doubling the size of the House). I will also be making FairMaps in accordance with post-2020 Census population estimates. I am a native of Rhode Island and am particularly familiar with New England.

350K DISTRICTS: NEVADA | Nevada's dense urban areas and exremely sparse interior make it an awkward state to map. Under a 350k district House, the state would be granted 9 congressional districts - allowing for the rural Republican center of the state to have a few districts of its own.
350K DISTRICTS: UTAH | Utah's Wasatch Front dominates the state's population. If Utah sent 8 representatives to Congress, it would be quite easy to draw a safe Democratic district as well as a tossup seat in the Salt Lake City suburbs, all while preserving communities of interest.
